Technical vs functional
I just wondering how you guys measure if the support call is tech or functional related.?
Usually I see if issue related to security/ new patch impact is tech.
But if program behave differently due to setup/ process by user is functional.
Any thoughts or feedback will be appreciated.

Compress Full Package - Yes or No ?
Wanted to check what everyone's opinion was on building full packages with the compression option ON. It has been a while since this topic was discussed here so I thought I would start a new thread.
Do you still do it and if you do, why do you do it ?
My personal opinion is that in today's technology landscape , where networks are much much faster and most FAT clients are virtual and in the same LAN as the Deployment Server , I don't see the need for compressing full packages in order to make my client installation marginally faster.
Using compression also does the following
- Makes Client Full build take longer
- Takes more space on the deployment server (since it is storing both the compressed and uncompressed directories)
- Requires you to periodically re-compress the parent full package so that it is up to date with the update packages that have been built since the original build.
What are your thoughts ?
Cheers

Oracle Unveils Suite of Breakthrough Services to Help Simplify Cloud Adoption by Global Corporations
Oracle Unveils Suite of Breakthrough Services to Help Simplify Cloud Adoption by Global Corporations
First-of-a-kind services enable organizations to bring the Oracle Cloud Platform inside their own datacenter
Redwood Shores, Calif.—Mar 24, 2016
Oracle today launched a new family of offerings designed to enable organizations to easily move to the cloud and remove some of the biggest obstacles to cloud adoption. These first-of-a-kind services provide CIOs with new choices in where they deploy their enterprise software and a natural path to easily move business critical applications from on-premises to the cloud.
While organizations are eager to move their enterprise workloads to the public cloud, many have been constrained by business, legislative and regulatory requirements that have prevented them from being able to adopt the technology. Today, Oracle is making it easier for organizations in every industry to make this transition and finally reap the performance, cost and innovation benefits of Oracle Public Cloud Services and run them wherever they want—in the Oracle Cloud or in their own datacenter.
“We are committed to helping our customers move to the cloud to help speed their innovation, fuel their business growth, and drive business transformation,” said Thomas Kurian, president, Oracle. “Today’s news is unprecedented. We announced a number of new cloud services and we are now the first public cloud vendor to offer organizations the ultimate in choice on where and how they want to run their Oracle Cloud.”
Unveiled today, Oracle Cloud at Customer enables organizations to get all of the benefits of Oracle’s cloud services—agility, simplicity, performance, elastic scaling, and subscription pricing—in their datacenter. This is the first offering from a major public cloud vendor that delivers a stack that is 100 percent compatible with the Oracle Cloud but available on-premises. Since the software is seamless with the Oracle Cloud, customers can use it for a number of use cases, including disaster recovery, elastic bursting, dev/test, lift-and-shift workload migration, and a single API and scripting toolkit for DevOps. Additionally, as a fully managed Oracle offering, customers get the same experience and the latest innovations and benefits using it in their datacenter as in the Oracle Cloud.
By extending the Oracle Cloud into their data center, customers can:
- Have full control over their data and meet all data sovereignty and data residency requirements that mandate customer data remain within a company’s data center or contained within a geographic location while still taking advantage of the benefits of the cloud
- Enable workload portability between on-premises and cloud using identical environments, toolsets, and APIs
- Easily move Oracle and non-Oracle workloads between on-premises and the cloud based on their changing business requirements
- Comply with security and privacy regulations such as PCI-DSS for the global credit and debit card industry, HIPAA for the US healthcare industry, FedRAMP for the US federal government, Germany’s Federal Data Protection Act, the United Kingdom's Data Protection Act, and other industry- and country-specific regulations
Today, Oracle is announcing the availability of the following Oracle Cloud at Customer services:
- Infrastructure: Provides elastic compute, elastic block storage, virtual networking, file storage, messaging, and identity management to enable portability of Oracle and non-Oracle workloads into the cloud. Additional IaaS services that complete the portfolio, including Containers and Elastic Load Balancer will be available soon.
- Data Management: Enables customers to use the number one database to manage data infrastructure in the cloud with the Oracle Database Cloud. The initial set of Database Cloud Service offerings will be followed by Oracle Database as a Service – Exadata for extreme performance and a broad set of Big Data Cloud services, including Big Data Discovery, Big Data Preparation, Hadoop, and Big Data SQL.
- Application Development: Develop and deploy Java applications in the cloud using Oracle Java Cloud, soon to be followed by other services for polyglot development in Java SE, Node.Js, Ruby, and PHP.
- Enterprise Integration: Simplify integration of on-premises applications to cloud applications and cloud application to cloud application integration using the Oracle Integration Cloud Service. Additional capabilities for SOA, API Management, and IoT will be added soon.
- Management: Unifies the experience of managing workloads seamlessly on-premises and in the Oracle Cloud.
The Oracle Cloud has shown strong adoption, supporting 70+ million users and more than 34 billion transactions each day. It runs in 19 data centers around the world.

Update Package Deploy to Multiple Servers
I am working at a client with multiple servers for each environment. For example, for PY we have 2 batch and another 2 logic (BSFN) servers. So I need to build update packages for all 4 servers each time. I frequently run into problems while deploying packages, mostly due to "unable to create server lock".
To go around this I was thinking to deploy packages with specs only (no BSFN) only to one of these servers. Since we have "shared specs", once I deploy specs to one server, all will see these changes.
Is this correct thinking or am I missing something here? Has anybody done this before as a regular practice ?

WebLogic Auto Restart Cluster Server
I recently setup a WebLogic 12c server on Windows with 3 Cluster Server nodes. I am using the Nodemanager option to restart all services automatically in Windows.
I referred this Document to setup the scripts in WLST.
http://ift.tt/1R21fcb
Everything works great but I am not able to start all 3 managed servers at the same time.
The python script has this entry ...
nmConnect(userConfigFile='C:\SSScripts/myuserconfigfile.secure',userKeyFile='C:
\SSScripts/myuserkeyfile.secure',host='localhost',port='5556' ,domainName='E1_Apps',domainDir='C:\Oracle\Middlew are
\user_projects\domains\E1_Apps')
nmStart('AdminServer')
connect('weblogic','welcome1','t3://txhdcwbs07:7501')
start('C1_VC1')
start('C1_VC2')
start('C1_VC3')
But the last 2 server nodes are not starting up with the reboot.
I was able to circumvent it by creating separate scripts for each server but that feels a little clumsy.
Is there a way I can include all 3 servers to be started from the same script?
Thanks,
Soumen
P.S:- I have checked the Auto-Restart option under Server Scripts for each server and they are set to Yes/Checked.

Item Restrictions for Drop Ship
We are working on using Advanced Preferences to prevent restricted items on sales orders. The process works great by looking at the state and country of the JDE Ship To Address Book record. However, we are seeing an increasing number of customers requesting that we drop ship to their customer.
The issue is that the ship address is on the Sales Order Override, not JDE A/B. Has anyone found a way to handle this at order entry? We are looking at putting checks in our shipping software in the warehouse as a final stop. However, that is awkwardly late in the process in terms of disappointing a customer.

'Disconnected' Mobile Applications
Current Process: We have 'Secret Agents' that go out to the 'Far and Remote Locations' and 'do their thing'. They report these 'things' into a Visual Basic Application. When they return to the office, they export their 'report of things' to a CSV - and email that CSV to 'someone' with JDE Access. That 'someone', then, imports the 'report of things' into JDE.
Wanted Process: We have 'Secret Agents' that go out to the 'Far and Remote Locations' and 'do their thing'. They open their tablet, Click and fill-out forms to 'report of things' that occurred. The 'report of things' magically appear in JDE.
Conceptually - this would be done through Oracle/JDE's Mobile Application Framework. BUT, there is an unknown - what happens when the Mobile Application is not connected. You see, not all of our 'Secret Agent' 'Far and Remote Locations' are within Cell Range. Some of the 'Far and Remote Locations' have to kept 'secret' - so the other venues have no idea they exist.
That said - when a Mobile Application is outside of Cell Range - do you hear the tree fall in the forest (look, a squirrel)... I mean, does the Mobile Application Store, then forward - once it is 'Connected'?
So many of our sites are on the Disconnected Fringes, I'm hesitant to pursue the JDE Mobile - without knowledge of what happens when disconnected.

Purge data from custom table
I have a custom table that is being growing exponentially, we need to create a purge process that will delete data based in date calculations(anything that is less than this x date will be deleted). Anybody could recommend the best approach to take in this regard?
Thank you,

Build a XML Tag using JDE Event Rules
we have a requirement to build a XML file using JDE Event Rules. There is report which currently generates a .txt file but the client now requires that same file to be generated in XML format.
I was wondering how to accomplish or build a XML tag for a header, detail etc.
txt file output goes one record in one line
.XML goes in a tree format. I have no experience in building a XML tags with simple JDE Event Rules and how it looks. Below is the XML format and I was wondering how I can a header and detail tags for this. Please provide your expert advice.
Do I have to construct one big String variable and concatenate these tags and after every close should I write to to the file or one insert at the end will be fine.
This report is for ROE and for every employee they generate a either a single or multi ROE depending on how many companies he was working.

P41202 - Item Availability - Find Committed Parts
I have an item at a branch which is telling me that 3 parts are committed on Work Orders (i see this in P41202 - Detail Availability) and therefore are being deducted from the On-Hand stock at the Branch.
The branch is set-up in this way, which is fine.
But how do i a) find the work orders these parts are committed to and b)cancel the commitment
Thanks in advance for any help!

rfsmart or DSI
A curious question and probably very basic.
I have been trying to have a subjective comparison of DSI from dcLINK and rfsmart. While the information about the individual products abound the internet, the specific comparison information is rather sparse.
Probably because there is not a lot of difference between the two and they both accomplish similar things.
I have been exposed to DSI and am familiar with its capabilities, more so when JDE software offers Business Function wrappers to leverage the MBFs in JDE.
My new project has rfsmart and I am trying to get some exposure there as well eventually. In the mean time I was trying to find out in what ways are the two different, if at all.
This is not from a decision making perspective, but lets say if I ever have to make a decision (irrespective of cost) between the two, what factors should I consider.
For the sake of discussion if it helps, lets assume that the base JDE software is 9.1.
Appreciate any information on this topic
Thanks and Regards

ORACLE REPORTS GAAP EPS OF $0.50; NON-GAAP EPS OF $0.64
ORACLE REPORTS GAAP EPS OF $0.50; NON-GAAP EPS OF $0.64
Without the effect of U.S. Dollar strengthening both would have been 4 cents higher
Redwood Shores, Calif.—Mar 15, 2016
CLOUD SAAS AND PAAS REVENUES UP 57% IN U.S. DOLLARS AND UP 61% IN CONSTANT CURRENCY
Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) today announced fiscal 2016 Q3 results. The strengthening of the U.S. dollar compared to foreign currencies had a significant impact on results in the quarter. Total Revenues were $9.0 billion, down 3% in U.S. dollars and up 1% in constant currency. Cloud plus On-Premise Software Revenues were $7.1 billion, down 1% in U.S. dollars and up 3% in constant currency. Cloud software as a service (SaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) revenues were $583 million, up 57% in U.S. dollars and up 61% in constant currency. Cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) revenues were $152 million, down 2% in U.S. dollars and up 2% in constant currency. Total Cloud Revenues were $735 million, up 40% in U.S. dollars and up 44% in constant currency. Total On-Premise Software Revenues were $6.3 billion, down 4% in U.S. dollars and unchanged in constant currency. Total Hardware Revenues were $1.1 billion, down 13% in U.S. dollars and down 8% in constant currency. Total Services Revenues were $793 million, down 7% in U.S. dollars and down 2% in constant currency.
Operating Income was $3.0 billion and Operating Margin was 34%. Non-GAAP Operating Income was $3.8 billion and non-GAAP Operating Margin was 42%. Net Income was $2.1 billion while non-GAAP Net Income was $2.7 billion. Earnings Per Share was $0.50, while non-GAAP Earnings Per Share was $0.64. Without the impact of the U.S. dollar strengthening compared to foreign currencies, Oracle’s reported GAAP and non-GAAP Earnings Per Share would have been 4 cents higher.
Short-term deferred revenues were $6.9 billion, up 7% in U.S. dollars and up 11% in constant currency compared with a year ago. Operating cash flow on a trailing twelve-month basis was $14.1 billion.
“Our Cloud SaaS and PaaS revenue growth rate accelerated to 61% in constant currency in Q3,” said Oracle CEO, Safra Catz. “This dramatic revenue increase drove our non-GAAP SaaS and PaaS gross margins up to 51% in Q3 as compared with 43% in Q2. Our cloud business is now in a hyper-growth phase. Our gross margins are climbing toward our target of 80%. These two factors will ignite substantial EPS and cash flow growth over Oracle’s next few quarters.”
“Our SaaS and PaaS gross deferred revenue grew 96% in Q3—twice as fast as Workday and three times faster than Salesforce.com reported in their most recent quarters,” said Oracle CEO, Mark Hurd. “Q3 SaaS and PaaS bookings were up 77% in constant currency. We added 942 new SaaS customers in the quarter, including several customers that switched from Workday HCM to Oracle Fusion HCM. We had more than 250 customers go live on Fusion SaaS HCM and Fusion ERP in Q3 alone. We now have over 11,000 SaaS customers with nearly 2,000 Fusion ERP customers—ten times more ERP customers than Workday claims to have.”
“In absolute dollar terms, Oracle is already selling more enterprise SaaS and PaaS new cloud revenue than any other company in the world—including Salesforce.com,” said Larry Ellison, Oracle Chairman and CTO. “We are growing much faster than Salesforce.com. We also have many more SaaS products than Salesforce.com. In some of our most important SaaS markets, such as ERP, HCM, Supply Chain and Manufacturing, Salesforce.com does not participate at all. By successfully competing in all of these markets, Oracle has the ability to sustain its high growth over a long period of time. That should make it easy for us to pass Salesforce.com and become the largest SaaS and PaaS cloud company in the world.”
The Board of Directors also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.15 per share of outstanding common stock. This dividend will be paid to stockholders of record as of the close of business on April 14, 2016, with a payment date of April 28, 2016.
Oracle also announced that its Board of Directors authorized the repurchase of up to an additional $10 billion of common stock under its existing share repurchase program in future quarters.

Safe Harbor
Statements in this press release relating to Oracle's future plans, expectations, beliefs, intentions and prospects, including statements regarding our expectations of future growth in our gross margins, EPS and cash flow; the timing of such growth; the growth of our cloud business generally; and the competitive landscape for enterprise cloud are all "forward-looking statements" and are subject to material risks and uncertainties. Many factors could affect our current expectations and our actual results, and could cause actual results to differ materially. We presently consider the following to be among the important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from expectations: (1) Economic, geopolitical and market conditions, including the continued slow economic recovery in Europe, parts of the U.S. and other parts of the world, can adversely affect our business, results of operations and financial condition, including our revenue growth and profitability, which in turn could adversely affect our stock price. (2) We may fail to achieve our financial forecasts due to such factors as delays or size reductions in transactions, fewer large transactions in a particular quarter, fluctuations in currency exchange rates, delays in delivery of new products or releases or a decline in our renewal rates for contracts. (3) Our cloud computing strategy, including our Cloud SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and Database as a Service offerings, may not be successful. (4) If we are unable to develop new or sufficiently differentiated products and services, or to enhance and improve our products and support services in a timely manner or to position and/or price our products and services to meet market demand, customers may not buy new software licenses, cloud software subscriptions or hardware products or purchase or renew support contracts. (5) Our international sales and operations subject us to additional risks that can adversely affect our operating results, including risks relating to foreign currency gains and losses. (6) If the security measures for our software, hardware, services or Oracle Cloud offerings are compromised or subject to a successful cyber-attack, or if such offerings contain significant coding, manufacturing or configuration errors, we may experience reputational harm, legal claims and financial exposure. (7) We have an active acquisition program and our acquisitions may not be successful, may involve unanticipated costs or other integration issues or may disrupt our existing operations. A detailed discussion of these factors and other risks that affect our business is contained in our U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, including our most recent reports on Form 10-K and Form 10-Q, particularly under the heading "Risk Factors." Copies of these filings are available online from the SEC or by contacting Oracle Corporation's Investor Relations Department at (650) 506-4073 or by clicking on SEC Filings on Oracle’s Investor Relations website at http://ift.tt/Y6OtkM. Power Form Parent Child Connection
I have developed a Power Browse form. The Parent form Grid is join of F4101 + F41829. User opens the power form and enters a Search Text like "Oxygen" and clicks find. The Parent form displays all the items which have description "Oxygen". The child form (F4102) shows the details of only Item branch records for 1 items the first one on parent form . When user clicks on second row on parent form the relevant items details are shown in Child form. This works.
But is it possible that if the "Oxygen" search gave a match of 10 items then these 10 items are shown in both Parent and Child form at same time. i.e without firing the Row is Selected Event on Parent form. The screen dump displays my current design form.
Thanks. Appreciate your suggestions. Let me know if any details required. If such a thing is not possible, let me know if I need to pivot the idea.

9.2 Dev Client with SQL Server JDBC
I'm starting in the dev forum understanding that tech may be appropriate as well and I'll try there next.
OK, 9.2.0.2 install. SQL Server DB setting up the dev workstation. Everything is smooth, full package built. WLS 12.1.3 installed, web dev feature installs fine but get "not suitable driver" message when running. No prob, missing sqljdbc4.jar in ..\misc. Added jar and still no luck. Copied the driver to ..\JAS\EA_JAS_80.ear\webclient.war\WEB-INF\lib and it works but far from ideal. So I'm missing some setup on local WLS to "register" that driver. On server managed instances (non dev workstations) this is simple. Note the oracle JDBC driver (used for local specs) is in \misc, but it also maybe classpathed in from somewhere else.
Anyone know the right place to get it in the classpath? just the startup parms?
thanks

- Industry-leading delivered memory bandwidth: at an industry-leading 160GB/s memory bandwidth, the SPARC M7 processor provides enough capacity to feed both the DAX units as well as processor cores.
- DAX offload: frees the processor cores for other processing.
- Efficient decompressing combined with in-memory processing: putting decompression in the DAX unit is much faster than software implementations. Designing decompression with scanning means needless back and forth memory transfers are avoided. Results from the DAX are entered into the CPU cache for better CPU efficiency.
- DAX range comparisons: many real-world database analytics queries are written to find data transacted between certain dates, or product cost ranges, etc. The DAX processes range comparisons at the same rate as individual comparisons. Other processors require additional computational time for each comparison.
- Avoiding cache pollution: the DAX does much of its computation without needing to store intermediate data in a cache, freeing the CPU’s cache for other processing.

In detail,
Unfortunately, the requirement is little bit hard to implement in JDE.

- They will attach number of documents to a Company record. The custom Company have lot of documents related with it, such as Company Registration document etc.
- They need to submit these documents to government on regular basis.
- They need to generate an Excel sheet with information (stored in JDE tables) and a link to the attached Media Object. They were doing this with Microsoft Access, and they are expecting much more from JDE

How to determine which Pay Codes are caluclated in Box 14 for Canadian Payroll T4's
Now that the T4 season has come and gone again for another year, my payroll team has asked if I can produce a report that shows which of their paycodes are mapped to Box 14 on the Canadian T4.
I know where to find the information for the Special handling boxes
My issue is trying to determine which codes are to be included with Box 14
So far in my invesitgation I have found if I meet any one of these criteria, then the pay code is not included
1) If F069116.CHCK = 1, 4 (Non-Taxable)
2) If F069116.NMTH(Effect on the GL) = H (hours Only) or Y ($'s only)
3) IF F069116.NMTH = M (No Effect) and F069116.CHCK = BLANK
4) IF F069116.TT01 = * (how would we query this as the asterisk is a wildcard)
5) IF F069116.TT01 or TT02 or TT03 or TT04 = 'CB' - Canadian Pension Plan -EE or 'CE' - Canadian Pension Plan - ER
Is there a business function that I can look at for the logic so that I can make sure that I use the same requirements.
I am hoping that there is a much easier way of doing this and I just can't see it
Thanks

User JDE and password changes
We are going to be modifying our password policy, basically increasing the required length from 4 to 8 and adding a special character and number requirement. Our question involves the system proxy user JDE. We plan on changing the password policy, then setting all users (except JDE) to Force Immediate Password Change so the users will have to change their password to comply with the new policy.
However, we want to leave JDE as it is. Is there any issue anyone would see to change the policy but leave JDE with its current password. The steps from Oracle to change the password for user JDE seem rather complex and represents a significant risk for downtime if we didn't do it properly. So we would just prefer to leave it.
Does any one see an issue with this?

Replenishment with only Inbound Quantity
when I try to create a replenishment suggestion (using R461601, normal replenishment point and economic method) from a location that has not quantity on hand but has quantity inbound, the system doesn't consider this location (but if there is quantity on hand, it consider also quantity inbound as available).
The same happen if I have the request and elaborate it with R46171.
If I try to do the same for the picking, It works (pick form location with only quantity inbound).
Does someone know if is a bug in the program, a lack in the set up or if there is no way to make a cross docking for the replenishment?

BSSV development, how to convert mathnumeric and integers?
I am trying to develop a custom BSSV that makes use of a standard BSFN. The BSFN needs to be passed a mathnumeric value.
I have created the internal and published components but am having trouble assigning this value between the internal and published components. I read the JDE BSSV guide and they mentioned overloading the set method of the internal value object using something like this:
---------------MathNumeric to Integer-----------------------
public void setNumberField(MathNumeric numberField){
if(numberField!= null)
this.numberField= new Integer(numberField.intValue());
}
This doesn't work for me. jDeveloper still complains about trying to set a MathNumeric to an Integer. I thought I could get around it by just changing the data type to Integer but the BSSV does not like this when run and complains about trying to cast integers to mathnumerics.
How do people get around this? I am sure I am missing something simple here?
